Greater Jonglei and Pibor
Peace Canal Advisors have been engaged in the work in Jonglei and Greater Pibor, initially through the Peacebuilding Opportunities Fund, since 2020. The work focusses on engaging the key community level stakeholders, particularly the armed youth leaders, traditional leaders and women. Through these conversations, and creating spaces for communities who have differences to connect directly and as part of a sustained process, we aim to find more sustainable ways out of the cycles of conflict.
The engagement initially focussed on the relationships between the Murle, Dinka Bor and Lou Nuer. This continues, also building to ensure that the Gawaar Nuer are fully part of the ongoing peace process. It is also giving more emphasis to the relationships within these three communities, where further work is needed to deal with the legacy of past conflict.
